Student data needs clear rules
PrepBook holds names, absences and conversation notes. This is how the app handles them.
End-to-end encryption is optional. If you switch it on and lose the passphrase and recovery key, you can no longer reach your data. The pilot team cannot rescue it either.
- First on your device
- The app reads and writes locally. The server only syncs.
- PrepBook Cloud Switzerland
- The cloud is in Switzerland. At the start, the data is stored there.
- Own login
- Account with an email address and a password of at least 12 characters. No login through Microsoft or Google. Two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app is possible.
- End-to-end encryption
- Notes, handwriting, student data, conversations, reports and file names are then unreadable on the server. Search keeps running on your devices.
- Retention periods
- Twelve months after a class ends, PrepBook suggests deleting the class data. Data is only deleted when you confirm.
- Access log
- You see the latest sign-ins, failed attempts and new devices, and you can sign devices out.
- Export and deletion
- All data as JSON, class lists as CSV. The account can be deleted together with its data.
- Community
- No names, photos or details about students, parents or colleagues. A text filter warns you about matches, but it does not replace your own care.
